Understanding Historical Contexts and Cultural Elements to Inform Services for Latine Populations

July 10 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

This training offers behavioral health providers an understating of the interplay between culture and mental health within Hispanic and Latine communities. It underscores the significance of understanding the historical, political, and traumatic contexts shaping the mental health experiences of Latine populations and acknowledges culture as a dynamic and enduring aspect of human experience, influencing thoughts, emotions, and well as help seeking behaviors. Attendees will learn about the role of cultural factors in mental health assessment and treatment with Latine clients, and how to integrate culturally informed therapeutic strategies that foster effective engagement and therapeutic relationships. Ultimately the training seeks to equip providers with the necessary tools to capitalize on the strengths and resources inherent within Latine communities to effectively approach and offer mental health, substance use, and recovery services.
