The Hispanic/Latino Behavioral Health Center of Excellence is committed to advancing culturally focused behavioral health policies that address the needs of Hispanic and Latino communities. As part of our mission, we have established the Public Policy Academy, a transformative initiative that brings together state and local government officials, community-based organizations, and students from our workforce expansion initiative from various states and counties to participate in the development of recommendations to strengthen policies around access, retention, and best practices in behavioral health services.
This year, we launched the Student Workforce Initiative, selecting a distinguished group of students committed to the behavioral health of their communities. The immersion meeting took place in March, introducing the students to knowledge about the healthcare system and its implementation across different states. The program is designed to foster collaboration between state and county officials, providing them with the tools needed to develop and implement sustainable behavioral health policies that reflect the challenges and strengths of the populations.
We share, with deep gratitude, the team that manages this initiative. Dr. Rabadán-Diehl and Dr. Marrero, through their leadership and dedication, continue to reinforce best practices in behavioral health policy. Our participants affirm this.
